D Contemporary is delighted to announce that Silke Weißbach, winner of the 2026 D Contemporary Art Award, has been shortlisted for The Hari Art Prize 2026. Selected from more than 1,500 applications, Weißbach is one of just 21 artists chosen for this year's shortlist.
Born in Germany in 1984, Weißbach makes abstract paintings that explore transformation, ecology and the relationship between body and land. Her shortlisted work, Anma (2025), shows her distinctive use of natural materials. Oil, cochineal (Dragon's Blood), cornflowers and wax are layered on a large canvas (101.6 × 152.4 cm), producing a surface where pigment and plant matter carry the traces of their own origins.
We are thrilled to see Silke recognised by The Hari Art Prize so soon after she won the D Contemporary Art Award this year, her paintings show a rare sensitivity to material. Pigments, plants and wax carry their own histories into the work, and she turns them into something both elemental and deeply personal. Anma shows an artist working with real conviction, and we are proud to support her as her practice reaches new audiences
