BIOGRAPHY
Lau Yee Vanessa Fong (b. 1997, Hong Kong) is a visual artist based in London. She holds an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London (2024), and a BFA in Fine Art from ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena (2021).
Drawing on Buddhist philosophy and broader Eastern cultural traditions, Fong’s practice examines spirituality, identity and processes of psychological and emotional transformation. Her work emerges from an ongoing engagement with experiences of trauma and recovery, using painting as a means of navigating questions of selfhood, memory and healing. Rather than approaching Buddhism through traditional iconography, she reinterprets its philosophical and symbolic frameworks through a contemporary visual language, exploring the relationship between inner experience and the material world.
Fong’s work has been exhibited internationally across the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and China. Recent exhibitions include *The Torrent & The Fold* at LBF Contemporary, London (2025); *Full Disclosure* at D Contemporary, London (2025); *Malerei* at akku Kunstplattform, Emmenbrücke, Switzerland (2025); *Fantasyland* at Twilight Contemporary, London (2025); and *Invited Worlds* with Speiro Projects, London (2024). She was also selected for the Delphian Open Call 2024 winners exhibition at Delphian Gallery and Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop, London.
In 2025, Fong undertook the GoodEyeProjects Summer Residency in London. Her developing practice continues to investigate how spiritual traditions can be reconsidered within contemporary painting, creating spaces in which personal experience, cultural inheritance and states of inner transformation intersect.
